A Prayer for Anglican Church Women

Almighty God, Our Heavenly Father, we pray thee to bless and direct our work for the extension of Thy Kingdom; and make us thankful for the precious gift to us of Thy Beloved Son, that we may pray fervently, labor diligently, and give freely to make him known to all as Saviour and King; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

2 Corinthians 4: 5, 6

For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord,; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.  For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the Glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

A COLLECT
by Mary Stewart, Colorado 1904

Keep us O God, from pettiness, let us be large
in thought, in word and deed.

Let us be done with fault-finding and leave off self-seeking.

May we put away all pretense and meet each other face to face,
without self-pity and without prejudice.

May we never be hasty in judgment and always generous.  Let us
take time for all things; make us grow calm, serene and gentle.

Teach us to put into action our better impulses,
straight-forward and unafraid.

Grant that we may realize it is the little things that create
difference; that it is in the big things in life we are at one.

And may we strive to touch and to know the great, common
human heart of us all, and O Lord God,
let us not forget to be kind.

Amen
