News from St. Bart’s (4/13)

Dear Brothers & Sisters in our Lord,

It is expedient for us that one man should die for the people (St. John 11:50).

From the earliest days of the Church, followers of Jesus have gathered at this time of the year to retell the story of His passion and death, to consider anew just how unintentionally prophetic the chief priest Caiaphas was when he uttered the words quoted above regarding our Lord.  Take every opportunity to be here during the Sacred Triduum in order to enter more fully into our His sacrificial love and the joy of His Resurrection:

MAUNDY THURSDAY:  Holy Eucharist, Procession to the Altar of Repose, and Stripping of the Altar at 7pm

GOOD FRIDAY (Silence kept on the church grounds from 12–3pm):  Matins, The Solemn Collects, Liturgy of the Presanctified, and Evening Prayer at 12 noon  |  Stations of the Cross from 2:30-3pm

Father Bart will be leading the day’s second commemoration of the Stations of the Cross at 7pm

HOLY SATURDAY:  Easter Even Propers, Blessing of the New Fire, Lighting of the Paschal Candle, Prophecies, Blessing of the Font, Holy Baptism, and Litany of the Saints at 7pm

EASTER DAY:  Holy Eucharist at 10am

None other than Geoffrey is in town for the first time since June of last year and is looking forward to assuming his former liturgical role this evening and weekend!  We’re also honored to have my mother with us as we begin to mark the most important several days of the Christian year and of human history.

Invite your friends and family to join us!

May the Lord truly bless you and grant you the fullness of joy in His Resurrection as we commemorate His Passover from death to life and ours in Him.

Much love & many blessings,
rtd+
