News from St. Bart’s (7/3)

Dear Brothers & Sisters in our Lord,

It was terrific to see a goodly number of you in attendance at the Holy Eucharist for The Rt Rev’d Peter Hansen’s first appearance here last weekend as Suffragan Bishop and indeed the first time he has been in our area in more than a decade.  He surely appreciated the warm welcome and the plethora of improvements to the church buildings and grounds since the last time he was here.  I have particularly enjoyed fielding the remarks about his nautical-themed sermon taken from the Fifth Chapter of St. Luke’s Gospel.

And your Rector has been taken aback at the number of you who have mentioned the day’s Epistle from I St. Peter and its consonance with the previous Sunday’s sermon.  Thank you for the overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding that, which should bode well for this portion of Christ’s flock known as St. Bartholomew’s Church as we “launch out into the deep.”

Later today (Tuesday), Evening Prayer will be offered at 6:30pm for Rector Search Committee and Vestry members, but any and all are encouraged and welcome to join us as a sign of corporate unity and to begin the formal process of calling my successor in a prayerful spirit as we look forward with expectant hope to building upon the foundation that has been established here.

Committee and Vestry members will convene their meeting with Bishops Ashman and Hansen this evening at 7pm.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) morning, I will celebrate the Holy Eucharist at 10am as we pray for our country and commemorate Independence Day.

This Sunday, Father Bart will be both Celebrant and Preacher as we commemorate the Sixth Sunday after Trinity.

Pray for the young people, staff, and clergy at the youth camp this week.

Thank you for your donations to the Parish Pantry.  Food items may be left in the Narthex and are to be collected on the last Sunday of the month for distribution.

Keep in mind that our Patronal/ Name Day Feast of St. Bartholomew will be celebrated on Sunday, August 26th, with a Sung Eucharist followed by a cookout/ potluck lunch.

Much love & many blessings,
